Due to these limitations, the <strong>Algerian, Moroccan, Portuguese, and Spanish teams<\/strong> could not meet in person. However, on the last 13 and 14th of December, we finally had our first face-to-face meeting of the project in Valencia, Spain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1149 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_UPV.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_UPV.jpg 900w, https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_UPV-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 900px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first in-person plenary meeting of the project allowed us to share time and space in the <strong>IIAMA headquarters at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica<\/strong> de Val\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>Portugal<\/strong> came Marta Varanda and Marta Nieto from the Universidade de Lisboa, and V\u00e2nia Serr\u00e3o de Sousa (Universidade do Algarve). Representing the <strong>Moroccan and Algerian<\/strong> case studies we had Jean-Daniel Rinaudo (BRGM) y Nicolas Faysse (CIRAD). Elena Lopez-Gunn (ICATALIST) and Javier Velasco (VisualNAcert) were the two representatives from the<strong> two Spanish companies<\/strong> participating in the project. The <strong>local team from the UPV<\/strong> was supported by the project coordinator Manuel Pulido and his team: Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez, Marta Garc\u00eda, Juan Manzano, H\u00e9ctor Maci\u00e1n, Esther L\u00f3pez, Carles Sanchis y Adri\u00e0 Rubio.<\/p>\n<p>We also shared experiences with Haime G\u00f3mez, coordinator of the sister <a href=\"https:\/\/inthemedprima.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PRIMA project InTheMed<\/strong><\/a> and his team, Janire Uribe and Vanessa Almeida.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1153 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_egroundwater.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_egroundwater.jpg 900w, https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/reunion_egroundwater-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 900px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, we appreciated the online support from Marco Orlando,<strong> the Project Officer from PRIMA,<\/strong> and the rest of the eGROUNDWATER team that was not able to fly to Spain safely: Zhour Bouzidi from Morocco, Bruno Bonte from Algeria and Sofia Coelho from Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>During the many sessions of the two-day meeting, we reviewed and commented on<strong> the project&#8217;s progress,<\/strong> which is progressing nicely despite its challenges.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon of the 14th, the team travelled to the <strong>Utiel-Requena area to visit the case study and meet with local stakeholders<\/strong>. They explained the ongoing project and the advantages of drip irrigation for water-saving and increasing efficiency.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1137 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/regadio_vid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/regadio_vid.jpg 900w, https:\/\/egroundwater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/regadio_vid-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 900px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To wrap up the 1st meeting in the Requena-Utiel case study, we met the <strong>Cooperativa Vitivin\u00edcola de Campo Arc\u00eds<\/strong>. Our colleagues from Portugal, Morocco and Algeria shared the characteristics of their local case studies with members from the Campo Arc\u00eds and other Irrigation Communities. Finally, we enjoyed a wine tasting event with local wines.
